The Rink @ JCube Opens Today!

Today was the opening of The Rink at JCube ~ Singapore's first Olympic size ice skating rink. Of course I had to go for a spin on the ice.

One thing that disappointed many figure skaters was the rule of no jumps and no spins on public sessions. The rule is set up for safety of skaters in the rink, during public session. In that case, the rink should offer closed sessions for figure skaters!

Oh no... In the rink operating hours, there's no time slot for freestyle sessions! Aren't they planning to conduct skating lessons there though? Wonder how it'll all work out.

Give them some time to settle down and work things out. :-)

Is anyone from the SISA or the ISU talking to the management there yet about lessons and figure skating. ?

No good having an Olympic size rink if its just going to be recreational.

Do they have web site yet , I could not find anything on line

It will not just be recreational. They will run our new SkateStar program, and there will be closed ice time for training ~ figure skating, speed skating and ice hockey. I'm sure once they observe the demand, they will also make plans for private lessons too... only the plans are not out yet.

What time do they allow spins and jump during non public skating sessions?
